The WNBA suspended Phoenix Mercury centre Brittney Griner three video games and Dallas Wings forwards Kristine Anigwe and Kayla Thornton two video games every for his or her function in Saturday’s brawl.
Phoenix guard Diana Taurasi and Dallas ahead Kaela Davis have been each suspended one recreation and fined $500 or leaving the bench space through the altercation. Mercury ahead DeWanna Bonner was fined $500 for escalating the incident.
The punishments have been doled out Tuesday by Bethany Donaphin, the WNBA’s head of league operations.
The combat occurred with 6:25 left within the fourth quarter of the Wings’ 80-77 victory at Speaking Stick Resort Enviornment in Phoenix.
Griner was suspended “for throwing punches, escalating the incident, and pushing Thornton’s face with an open hand,” in line with the league’s press launch. She is going to start serving her suspension Wednesday when Phoenix hosts the Connecticut Solar.
The league stated Anigwe instigated the preliminary altercation and took an open-handed swing at Griner, whereas Thornton helped to escalate the altercation. Each will start serving their suspensions Wednesday when Dallas hosts the Los Angeles Sparks.
