‘Speech’ didn’t honor sacrificesof troopers and Allies’ civilians
Re: “Trump in Normandy: ‘We are gathered here on freedom’s altar’ ” (Eastbaytimes.com, June 6):
I listened to Trump’s complete speech at Normandy and it was essentially the most disingenuous, faux speech I’ve ever heard.
He learn aloud, very slowly, each phrase from the 2 teleprompter screens. His studying so slowly signifies he didn’t consider what he was studying and that it was the primary time he had even seen “his speech.”
The phrases within the speech have been profound. It’s too unhealthy he doesn’t consider one phrase of it. This faux “speech” was really an insult to everybody who was there to honor the sacrifices of the troopers who served and to our European Allies that suffered the destruction of their cities and the deaths of their civilians.
