SOUTH RIVER – A 75-year-old borough man was killed Tuesday in a head-on collision with an NJ Transit bus on Previous Bridge Turnpike. 

The person’s identify was not launched by police.

The collision prompted the bus to strike a house at 58 Previous Bridge Turnpike. Three different individuals on the bus suffered non-life-threatening accidents within the crash, South River police stated in a launch.

At about three:18 p.m., the South River Police Division responded to a two-vehicle crash, involving an NJ Transit bus and SUV, on the intersection of Previous Bridge Turnpike and Leonardine Avenue, police stated.

Arriving officers discovered 4 individuals had been injured, one with life-threatening accidents, the discharge stated.

Police stated a preliminary investigation signifies the bus was touring north on Previous Bridge Turnpike when the driving force of a grey SUV touring south on Previous Bridge Turnpike tried to make a left flip onto Leonardine Avenue in entrance of the bus, inflicting a head-on crash. The bus then struck a home on the roadway, the discharge said.
