Royal Oak police cease Black man for ‘trying suspiciously’ at white girl

Royal Oak police stopped a 20-year-old Black man for “trying suspiciously” at a white girl Tuesday night.

Devin Myers was strolling to Inn Season Cafe on Fourth Avenue when officers approached him and started questioning him.

Myers stayed calm and even apologized to the officers “for losing your guys’ time,” in line with a live Facebook video captured by Kimiko Adolph.

“I’m not going to go away a brother out right here,” Adolph stated.

Myers stated he did nothing improper.

One of many officers appeared irritated that Adolph and others have been complaining about stopping Myers.

“It’s not that large of a deal,” the officer stated.

Adolph responded, “It’s a giant deal when this occurs persistently.”

Police finally instructed Myers he was free to go away.

Inn Season Cafe paid for Myers’ meal.
