A 1939 comedian guide that launched Marvel characters for the primary time bought for a file $1.26 million at public sale, Dallas-based auctioneer Heritage Auctions stated on Thursday.
“Marvel Comics No. 1” options the primary appearances of characters together with Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner. A long time later, Marvel debuted Spider-Man, the Unbelievable Hulk and different superheroes which have headlined latest blockbuster motion pictures.
The merchandise was initially bought at a newsstand by a Pennsylvania mailman. The guide’s situation was rated as 9.four on a scale of 1 to 10, the auctioneer stated.
The sale was a part of a four-day public sale of classic comedian books and comedian artwork.
The earlier record-holder for a Marvel Comics guide was a 1962 problem that includes the primary look of Spider-Man, which bought for $1.1 million in 2011.
A handful of different comedian books have topped the $1 million price ticket. In 2014, a Superman comedian was bought for $three.2 million on eBay.
