Final week in a Four-Three resolution, the board voted down a movement to acknowledge and help the celebration of Pride in public colleges.
Gagne continues to face scrutiny for not supporting the movement. She beforehand stated there must be consistency and a clearly outlined position for folks and educators.
Following the backlash, Gagne posted on Fb, itemizing among the names she’s being referred to.
She’s not the one one underneath hearth.
The pastor of Regina Victory Church, Terry Murphy, handed alongside an e mail to members alerting them in regards to the vote.
Murphy instructed World information, “We’re simply making an attempt to face up for our personal beliefs. And whereas everybody needs to be handled honest and with respect, one group shouldn’t be elevated above all others.”
On the opposite aspect of the controversy, a GoFundMe marketing campaign began by Kent Peterson is elevating cash for gay-straight alliances.
He’s hoping to ship LGBTQ college students a message of help.
“I feel we actually want to consider these people who’ve seen a gaggle of adults that had been elected to guard college students in colleges really vote down a choice designed to have fun and acknowledge these college students,” Peterson stated.
Whereas Gagne couldn’t be reached for remark, the board stated it’s dedicated to additional dialogue and session.
Greater than Four,000 signatures have been collected for the web petition.
