Lupita Nyong’o thanks mother at Harlem Faculty of the Arts ball


Lupita Nyong’o thanked her mother, Dorothy, on the Harlem Faculty of the Arts’ annual ball on the Plaza Resort on Monday for nurturing her curiosity in theater.

“I didn’t have an establishment like this the place I’m from in Nairobi, Kenya. And so the one approach my curiosity within the arts thrived was as a result of I had mother and father who valued these pursuits,” Lupita mentioned.

She mentioned her mom “would have a look at the newspaper and see what artwork was out there in our neighborhood … She let me audition for the skilled theater after I was simply 14,” the “Black Panther” star recalled.

She and her mom had been each honored.
