Livingston County has ranked constantly above the nationwide common for opioid deaths within the final decade in statistics from the Centers of Disease Control.

Now, Livingston County finds itself listed as one of many 24 counties in Michigan at excessive danger within the nationwide opioid epidemic. In a July 10, 2019, story reported by Stateside Staff of Michigan Public Radio on a College of Michigan research printed June 28, 2019, within the Journal of the American Medical Affiliation, a county is designated as “excessive danger” if it has “each excessive opioid overdose mortality charges, and low capability to deal with opioid habit with drugs like methadone and buprenorphine.”
