Child delivered on aspect of freeway in NC: first responders

A child was born on the aspect of the highway in North Carolina on Saturday, officers say.

First responders had been known as to Freeway 280 close to the Transylvania County and Henderson County line at about 5:28 a.m., Bryan Almany, captain with North Transylvania County Fireplace Rescue, advised McClatchy Information.


The dad and mom had been making an attempt to get to the hospital in Asheville however ran out of time, he stated.

Officers with North Transylvania Fireplace Rescue, North Transylvania EMS and Mills River Fireplace Rescue helped ship the child lady on the aspect of the freeway, Almany says.

She was born at 5:42 a.m., he stated.


The mom and child each appeared to be in “nice form” and had been taken to Transylvania Regional Hospital, which doesn’t have a birthing heart, in keeping with Almany.
