Greta Thunberg arrives in Europe for local weather summit in Madrid

Local weather activist Greta Thunberg says she feels “energized” after spending three weeks crossing the Atlantic in a catamaran, arriving Tuesday within the Portuguese capital of Lisbon en path to the UN Local weather Change Convention in Madrid.


Thunberg informed dozens of reporters and activists below shiny sunshine on a Lisbon quayside that she plans to maintain urgent political leaders to make local weather change their high precedence.

She desires senior officers in Madrid to “lastly perceive the urgency” of local weather change and co-operate internationally.

Thunberg says: “Individuals are underestimating the power of indignant youngsters.”


She mentioned she travelled by catamaran as an alternative of aircraft to “ship a message it’s potential” to dwell a sustainable life-style.

Activists cease site visitors 

In a protest Tuesday morning, the second day of the local weather convention, some 20 activists lower off site visitors in central Madrid and staged a quick theatrical efficiency to protest local weather change.

Members of the worldwide group Extinction Insurrection held up a banner in Russian that learn: “Local weather Disaster. To talk the reality. To take motion instantly.”
